Types of Inequalities

(i) Numerical Inequalities:

Relationship between numbers.

Example: 3<5

(ii) Literal or Variable Inequalities:

Relationship between variables or a variable and a number.

Example: x < 5

(iii) Double Inequalities:

Relationship from two sides.

Example : 2 < x < 5

(iv) Strict Inequalities:

An inequality that uses the symboles < or > . The symbols \leq and \geq are not in used.

Example:   x <5 \qquad 3 <5

(v) Slack Inequalities:

An inequality that uses the symbols \leq or  \geq

Example:    x \leq 5

(vi) Linear Inequalities in One Variable:

An inequality that involves a linear function in one variable.

Example: x <5

(vii) Linear Inequalities in Two Variables:
